I have always dreamed of writing a book for my children in order to leave a Christian legacy. The summer of 2008 I started looking into writing for children since I hadn’t found a teaching position. I read everything online about writing for children, especially from the Children’s Book Insider. Then I contacted the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators in Los Angeles to find a critique group. They gave me the name of Nancy Sanders. It turned out she was a Christian author who lived close by. She invited me to her critique group. I wrote a story for a potential children’s magazine and took it to the first meeting. I told God, “If they think this is terrible, I’ll know this is not for me.” The ladies who critiqued my manuscript loved my writing and couldn’t believe I had just started. Since then, God has opened the door of opportunity wide-open. I’m happy to be one of His scribes.
