Greetings from Iowa! My kids & I are having a vacation at my parent’s house for the month of July, and we’re definitely enjoying being back in the states! For me, I’m trying to catch up on all the picture books I’ve missed for the past three years! And my mom’s library has an UNLIMITED book check-out! This is great because I’m following author Pam Calvert’s Picture Book University lessons on her blog. You can follow along, too. Just click the badge. Â I especially like her lesson about character-driven books, which editors and agents seem to want.
By the way, thank you for reading my story on my previous post, Fishing Boat to Freedom. I did take it down, in case I decide to submit it. But it won 4th place in author Susanna Leonard Hill’s contest. So thanks so much!

Pam’s PBU summer incentive is a great way to encourage us to read more picture books…as if anyone has to push us to do that. 🙂
So happy your time with family in the US is going so well.
And congrats again on the Fishing Boat story…it was my favorite.:) 🙂 You are a gifted writer, Tina!

Smart move, Tina. I’d like to see where your story Fishing Boat to Freedom ends up. Your lucky your mom saved all your books. My mom is the queen of donations. I wish She had kept those oldies, but goodies called Classics! We had a lot of Golden Books.
